Kefir or Kephir seeds are also called milk Kephir bulgaroros (pronounced as beulgaeroz) which is a fermented milk drink which originated the Caucasus Mountains. The milk is made from a yeast or bacterial fermentation starter. The milk is attained by vaccinating a cow, sheep or goat milk with kefir grains or the aforesaid yeast. Earlier the kefir grains were made in bags made from goatskin hung on the doorway. The bag would be hit by every person that would be passing through the door to permit the milk to remain well-mixed.
